La Beauté et le Geste
Uhoda Collection tasked us to create a visual identity and a website to promote its collaboration with Laurent Perbos: “La Beauté & le Geste”.
“La Beauté & le Geste” is an art piece created by Laurent Perbos and sponsored by the Uhoda Collection, that has been installed in front of the French National Assembly during the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. We helped Uhoda Collection and Laurent Perbos to design a visual identity and a website to promote the project.
Laurent Perbos presents the art installation as follows: “The Six Venuses are an ode to the Noble Gesture. That of the athlete who, in a final effort to achieve greatness, seems to be ‘touched by the grace of the Gods’. However, beyond the feat, this work also pays tribute to the athlete who stands out through their fair play and values of courage, excellence, respect, and camaraderie." [...] ”The installation incarnates this message in a powerful way, with its vibrant colors and the imposing size of the Venus.”
The main challenge of the mission was to design a visual identity that encapsulated the spirit of the art installation, without distorting the art piece itself. We decided to work with singular but discreet serif font as primary design element. We proposed a typographic system that organizes the title to create an elegant logotype. The serif font is associated with a sans-serif font from the same foundry (Pangram Pangram). The charted colors are sober, to ensure the pop colors of the art-piece stand out in every context. The simple branding system created works in autonomy and interacts with the art piece without shadowing it.
We wanted to create a website with an oversimplified navigation system to ensure efficient visits. We opted for a design that put the art piece and its colors at the center of the message. This way, the created pages disappear and bring the art installation and its elements at the center of the website.
The navigation and marketing funnel has been kept as simple as possible due to the limited amount of stock available and the wish to offer an exclusive and personalized experience to the buyers. However, the website has been configured together with our sister company Braconnier, in charge of the digital promotion, to support the campaign efficiently.
