Flower power !
Drink a Flower challenged us to create two video ads promoting new flavors with a very limited budget. We had to come up with creative solutions and a tailored artistic direction to create two high quality video ads with less than 3500€.
We succeeded by following 3 key principles:
1- Tailor the creative approach
Considering the available budget from scratch was key in the success of the project. We had to propose a concept that was doable with a limited video crew (in this case, our video Director Jérémy and Rodolphe as DOP); with limited video and light equipment costs.
We came up with a script and story that would play on the absurd, to allow ourselves to go low-tech and limit postproduction time.
We needed video sets that were simple to limit the preps and accessories.
We decided to involve Drink a Flower’s team in the acting to limit the costs, but considering they weren’t professional actors, we needed to adapt the script.
2- Count on your team and internal resources
This kind of projects require everyone to be flexible. We had 2 sets full of fresh flowers to build and we decided to build them ourselves. So Florian, Fenna and Bertrand have learned who to create floral arrangements, with a quite stunning result!
Jeremy and Rodolphe had to adapt materials and way of working during the shoot to make sure we could cover the shoot of the two videos within one day. We built the two sets side by side to limit time waste and be efficient. That weren’t the best conditions to work for them, but it worked!
3- Be pragmatic
Another challenging aspect of the project was the production management done by Elissa. Driving such a boat requires to be pragmatic and efficient. With a limited budget, you can’t afford wasting time, or making wrong choices. Sometimes you need to go for the reasonable solutions, not the optimum, and you need to explain that to your colleagues, your client, and your boss. Still, you are evaluated on the result, so you need to ensure a striking result. So you need to find the right balance!
These choices haven’t been easy to make and the project was quite demanding for our staff, but we are extremely proud to support a local brand such as Drink a Flower, and give visibility to products that are in line with our societal commitments, and taste so gooooooood!
